PHOTOGRAPHER (NEW YORK, LONDON, ISTANBUL)
Emir was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. He moved to the US to study Film at Northwestern University. After finishing school, he moved to New York, to become a filmmaker, but ended up assisting fashion photographers. During this period, he directed two low budget shorts and one feature film (with even less budget). Over time, he realized how funny, interesting, self-referential and artistic fashion photography can be, and fell in love with the medium. His love for counter film movements such as Nouvelle Vague and Dogme 95 had found a home in fashion photography, in the works of photographers such as Inez & Vinoodh, Juergen Teller, Helmut Newton and Guy Bourdin; and so he decided to follow suit.
He currently lives in New York and London, and seems to spend more time booking and changing plane tickets for his next assignments, than actually taking photographs.
